Throughout our lives, we’re constantly keeping our minds busy. Our brains are designed to work constantly, and while a little downtime here and there is important, keeping our minds active is just as important. For many people, retirement means putting an end to work and other activities, and for the first time ever, we simply can’t keep ourselves busy. We’re led to believe from the time we’re in school we can only study for a short period of time, often while we’re in our 20s. The most damage we can do to our brains is by letting them stay inactive. Researchers believe that television can do some of the most damage to our brains. The act of sitting in front of the TV while not allowing our brains to solve any sort of problem can be detrimental to our overall mind health. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t enjoy some TV every now and again, but only watching around 2 hours at a time is important to avoid any potential harm.
